[Discuss] Current state of File Sharing?

We'll we all know since MegaUpload was raided, many of the other file sites retracted from their businesses. Lets discuss potential file hosts here so we can fix most of the links.

Does dropbox have any limitations? We should all have some access to that.

I personally haven't used it, so I wouldn't know.

Yes they will temporarily suspend you public folder access if there's too much activity on it. I'm not sure what the limit is but it happens all the time with developers on XDA.

I don't think dropbox or box is an option. but it really sucks we don't know what to use since the government is just motivated by money.

Online gambling raid by DOJ = money motivated
MegaUpload = money motivated

so far doesn't seem much options out there that are reliable without fearing they close down right after I buy an account there.

How about google Documents and mediafire. with google documents one can share any file; for example, here is a google document link of the girl with the dragon tattoo: [Only visible to members, ]

one thing for sure, if you make the uname and pass public, anyone can change the credentials. I know it's a pain in the ass but we used a cheap vps from a 'safe" country, and got disposable domains. right now, it's too hot for file sharing site and another options are torrent. problems with that is too many tards hit and run.

one think you can look at is following apptrackr.org example. they've gotten some nasty letters and links scraped but managed to get ahead of it so far.

Mediafire and Wupload. Mediafire will respond to DMCA takedown notices. But at least with Mediafire, you don't need to have an account to upload.

We can't worry about sites that are touchpad friendly. Those folks will just have to take the simple extra step of using a computer to d/l and then use preware's WOSQI to install.
